My skin was dry i washed my face like 15 minutes before applying it

And i’ve been using it for a month i just take breaks on sunday

I do use tret at night tho so maybe my skin is becoming sensitive
tret is a strong retinoid. ur skins outer layer is probably very thin and ur lipid barrier is probably almost depleted which explains the redness.

cut backon the azelaic acid frequency, make it 2-3x a week. gradually increase only after ur skin completely stops reacting. separate ur actives too, never layer tret and azelaic together. id still say apply moisturiser, preferably a barrier repair one with ceramides and/or hyaluronic acid, before and after actives.

make sure all ur other products are mild and hydrating, and not...

bound to happen with active acids. especially if its first week or two. your skin barrier is probably damaged. as pearex said, might be bc ur skin was wet which can increase penetration. if ure using other harsh actives then it can also overwhelm skin.

if its ur first week, reduce your frequency. remember to apply to dry skin. try buffer it with moisturiser by sandwiching it. pause all other actives too.

make sure all ur other products are mild and hydrating, and not irritants like exfoliants, alicylic acid, or alcohol based toners.
