im a lifeguard for my city during the summer and through my university during the school year so i’ve been outside on and off throughout the spring and summer.
its not a bad job at all, good hours and pay (15.65/hr through my city, 12.50(?)/hr through my uni.) managers are reasonable, hours and good and 90% of the time im sitting around thinking about food or what clothes i wanna buy.

the only thing i absolutely hate are the patrons that come to the pool i work at for my city job. it’ll literally be peaceful, no one shows up for like an hour then the MOMENT SOMEONE SAYS “it’s been empty” it’s like they HEAR THAT THE POOL IS EMPTY AND SHOW UP. and a lot of the time it’s families and their kids but SO MANY OF THEM (kids mainly) CANT SWIM and i hate it. i understand if money is an issues but there are so many programs that will have reduced rates for people who can’t afford the normal rates!!!

and the HEAT. im in central texas so its mid to high 90s during the week MINIMUM. full sun, little to no clouds, so im sweating my ass off on stand hoping i don’t get skin cancer from my sunscreen coming off while i sweat. i had my mom (love her sm) look at my back and arms to make sure nothing was off because if i ever get skin cancer im gonna lose it. it’s also horrible for my dark spots so i got treatment to help with making them less visible (wear your sunscreen!!!)
“but there’s umbrellas on stand” yes, but the sun moves and there’s a single stand that has your lower body and abdomen in direct sun in the afternoon. hate it, and they won’t move the stand to where the sun isn’t on it during the afternoon.

would i give it up for any other job? absolutely not lmao the pay is too good esp for the area

just my little rant im literally at work rn and gotta go back out for 45 minutes 😍💔
