I don’t swear out of respect for my parents because they get so mad for some reason

they have never heard me swear even once

but realistically it’s ridiculous how people can be offended by a word (unless it’s a slur)

i suppose it depends on the swear word and its context. i know the word "cunt" is extremely offensive and aggressive in the US, but not in other countries

yes but even then it’s a word to express an emotion

it’s like calling someone stupid, you know what they mean but it doesn’t have the same connotations as cunt

thats true. i do know that swear words are registered and stored in a separate area of our brain. i assume because of that, hearing certain words can simply easily trigger a person. i dont swear for the most part because it doesnt occur in my every day vocabulary

its actually why a lot of people with tics may only shout swear words and nothing else, even if they arent thinking it. its pretty interesting

but i mean the real reason for older people not liking it is just a cultural thing. theres not much "science" behind it.
