Do people actually not think anything?

Was at the shop and noticed this insanely long line formed at the normal checkout and nobody was queuing up on the self-checkout. So I looked around are people actually dumb and not making a different line or are they buying alcohol. Saw that the person in front of me was holding a beer so I figured everyone is just buying alcohol or some. So I just walked next to the self-checkouts so I could be next (as I feared some kid would walk there if I don't + I don't want to wait forever).

And ofc I'm first on the line in the self-checkouts and when the person leaves this lady runs in front of me and looks at me like I did a crime. What a fucking r****d, I thought. Obviously you should form two lines: One for people wanting to use normal checkout if they are buying alcohol or don't know how to use the machines (or think that lines will move faster), and one for those who want to use self-checkout.

It's just insane how clueless and sheepish people are. It's not that hard to make the line yourself. Do these people actually not think anything?
