does your speech (articulation) when you are sober go to shit after a prolonged period of heavy drinking?

I let myself go in the last two weeks again (by this i mean 2l of white wine per day 5 or more days in a week in the second half of the day) and realized no one at work could understand what i m saying the last 3-4 days. i've been getting "what?", "can you repeat what you said, please" and similar stuff after 80% of sentences or comments. so frustrating. realized it makes people borderline cringe at you after the 10th time too. even got into some lowkey heated interactions because of it, lmfao.

i'd ask chatgpt, but this is the type of a question where it will try to read into my mind and tell me what it "thinks" i want to hear no matter the prompt quality

At my most drunken state ( extremely dizzy and nauseated, soju with friends )

Perfect English ( It's my native language so that's probably why ) but I'd speak slower and laugh at the smallest random detail

50 percent talking 50 percent giggling but I'm coherent

i worded the op badly (holy irony) - i mean, i ve been drinking every evening in the last two weeks, and when i talk to colleagues in the morning and early afternoon, they can't decipher what i m saying for shit, even though i m sober. made me start thinking if alcohol fucks your speech up in sober state too if you go overboard with it for a prolonged period

It's honestly a no brainier that alcohol gonks up your brain many ways

Barely useful testimonial but my alcoholic granddad is barely indecipherable too. He was fine half a decade ago or so but spiraled into alcoholism after my nan's passing and even sober in the mornings, he is pretty indecipherable. Not completely but it takes active listening to get what he's saying. Whether It'd be from occasional stuttering to just weird sentence structures jumping from place to place without proper logical or chronological order

true, tbh. obviously this doesn't apply to someone who drinks two glasses of wine once in 6 months, but we are talking about someone who went full r****d here

the scary thing is that you can't even hear "yourself" - you sound completely normal to yourself and don't see any difference
