I’m doing an adaptation of one of Ursula LeGuins short stories. im writing a story about a man who escapes this city to embark upon a journey whereupon he meets embodiments of the dark aspects of Omelas (the city) a greedy man, a blind man, and a helpless man where at the end of his journey he finds the room which he escaped from in the first place and that he was led there by these seemingly broken people

That sounds intriguing. Make it so that you can tell that the theme statement of story is “It was the friends they made along the way.”

noo that’s not the point at all the people are supposed to be the fragmented darkness of omelas that is weak on its own but coalesces into a more powerful force to capture the man. Omelas = bad. The original story is about a seaside utopia that is amazing but has a room wherein there is a tortured child that has to be miserable in order for the city to remain beautiful
