Irony metastructure

What does irony mean? Why is it difficult to be ironic? Imagine irony as a puzzle: it requires three things:

- a moving “ironic subject”, not stable, because if it were perceived as stable, it would be perceived as common (that is, not very equivocal) and would not react with the object
- a stable “ironic object” that corresponds to the equivocation that must be perceived literally
- a juxtaposition of the two that obviously doesn’t correspond to the sum of ‘subject+object’

Most people just see irony in a two-dimensional way and consequently fail to grasp the nuances.
