"A test you can do to see if it’s your tongue is first put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and see how much of the gland/swelling is showing while at rest. Then stick your tongue out of your mouth and up as far as you can without changing your head position, and see if the gland/swelling mostly disappears. It won’t go all the way away but it should go away like 90%.
When I said recessed maxilla I wasn’t specific enough describing, the problem isn’t your maxilla necessarily the problem is the tongue not having enough room in the mouth. I can tell it’s probably your tongue because your ramus and gonial angle are far back by your ears just like mine, there’s not enough forward length in your mouth for your tongue to extend like it’s suppose to. The only real fix for it is if you get a Lefort 1 to move the premaxilla forward 5-10mm and give your tongue more room to extend forwards. Palate expanders can be really helpful for it too but they won’t completely solve this problem only most of the way. I wasn’t descriptive enough before sorry
it’s essentially the tongue not having enough forward room in the mouth so it pushes out the soft tissue under the mouth, which is usually the submandibular glands since they’re the first tissue to show. and you’re right it’s because of the mandible/maxilla being set too far backwards."
"Recessed infras=recessed maxilla."
