no they usually wouldn’t say it unprovoked. the ugly girl would most likely compliment first then the prettier one says you too, but that’s sort of automatically and girls say “you too” despite what the other girl looks like, whether she’s model pretty or just plain.

it’s more of a social convention/nicety, they don’t go and then think “thank god i don’t look like her”

i think this is probably one of the few things male interpersonal relationships get right over womens interpersonal relationships (which isn’t common, theres a reason why despite most dudes having “friends” theres still a male loneliness thing). cus guys aren’t expected to gas eachother up at all, infact insulting other guys is significantly more common, to the point where when you actually DO get a compliment its much more likely to be genuine
