So I'll be completely honest: I was just a little bit worried about this new EP. Most obviously, the fact that goddamn Lil Pump is on this album is the reddest of all flags, but I also thought that the lead single "Parking" wasn't that great. I initially learned about the Lil Pump feature on Twitter, and I genuinely thought it was a joke at first. And then LIT released the tracklist, and... wow. The funniest part is that "OKEY" would probably be the best song on "HARDRIVE" if Lil Pump wasn't on it. Actually, no, the real funniest part is that Lil Pump's verse isn't even that terrible. It obviously isn't good, but it's not as unlistenable as I was expecting. Still, having a man whose stage name is a synonym for "small penis" is probably the dumbest fucking decision LIT killah has ever made, and I am fully expecting people to continuing mocking him for it. This is the one time where I will concede that this shit should have been left in the drafts.

But even though "HARDRIVE" doesn't fail in any spectacular way like I was fearing (ignoring the obvious), it's pretty easily LIT's worst project yet. The flows aren't what they used to be, the beats are the most generic and stiff they've ever been, most of LIT's performances are nothing special, and the posturing is not particularly effective. It isn't like I listen to this shit for the lyrics anyway, but there are some things that LIT says on this album that he probably should not be saying if he still wants to be taken seriously. I'm not sure I can take his producers seriously, either, since AFTER made "Parking" sound goofy as shit and basically ripped off a Kendrick Lamar song on the closer. It's not great.

I really thought that LIT was going somewhere with the heavier R&B stuff, but I guess not. Maybe he'll save that for a full-length album someday, but I can't deny that I'm let down by this. Even though it's a painfully fine and alright EP at the end of the day, it really feels beneath someone like LIT. This isn't why I love him, and it certainly isn't why I listen to him. Yes, I'm disappointed that he decided to collaborate with someone who, by all accounts, is a giant chode, but the music just isn't up to snuff, either. Please just release a new version of "OKEY" that doesn't have Lil Pump or has him replaced with Ovi like it was supposed to be. MAYBE I'll forgive you then. goober

good day.
