I used to wear flip flops all the way up until I was 20 maybe. It was all I wore at the time, that the bottoms smoothed out and I got a tan line on my feet. The tan line started to bother me so I wore big toed socks because I didn't want to give up the flops

but then my at-the-time girlfriend (my wife) told me that she was genuinely so embarrassed to go into public like that with me and that she didn't want to be in a relationship with a dude who she couldn't go out in public with so I had to stop wearing them.
