I had school friends, work friends not so much as they`re always way older than me like my parents age, courses. Online friends from a game I play I was mod in group in the game and there was bunch of other mods so we`d talk and all. Some shared activity usually helps out with friendships but honestly people are not that great tbh so whether you have friends or not its not different.

Travel is the best way to make friends. Particularly abroad. When you travel abroad, whether as a tourist or an expat, you'll meet loads of other people who are travelers just like yourself and in the same exact boat. Last time I was in Hong Kong for a few days doing s visa run I found myself getting drunk and stoned on a rooftop with a bloke from London, a French girl, a couple of South African chicks, and a dude from Japan. Sometimes people come and go and sometimes you make lifelong friends.

It's hard as hell to make friends otherwise these days.
