I have the same issue so I can't help. I had to learn that real love is simply hard work. Things people think are love are usually idolization, objectification, something of the sort. You like the image of them as you said. You will get bored. It's all part of the script. The person you choose to be with should be the person you will choose to stay with after you get bored, because you chose to be integral, you chose to be a man and not a child, and by the time you get bored you have had created a strong foundation with her enough that there is more benefit to staying than leaving. My recommendation? Make it a game for yourself. Condition yourself to be rewarded with the feeling of control. Control is internal. If you can choose to be monogamous with someone for a long term relationship, that is you having self control.
