I think it's a good way to convey tone sometimes.

I prefer to write words out fully for accessibility reasons. I don't know if there's much point to posting to a public forum if I'm concerned people won't understand what I wrote. (As in I don't know if someone is using a translator or something to translate my text sometimes.)

Though with close friends and family I type like ass. It's actually unreadable, but they get what I mean.
