to be a neet you have to be mentally ill, imagine being home everyday for a year, just rotting on your computer never going outside. I haven't been outside in 8 days and I feel like shit

I've been NEET here and there in my adult life. Anywhere from around 3 to 6 months. Last time was from May to September in 2021. We'd just moved to the US from China and my wife was pregnant. We were stuck in a mountain town in Eastern Tennessee and couldn't leave until the baby was born because of the insurance. I didn't get a job because I had a lot of money. A few days after the baby was born we moved to Michigan for better prospects.

From 2013 to 2018 I would often go to Cambodia and Vietnam to binge on meth for up to 6 months at a time. Bouncing from hotel to hotel in a permanently delirious state.

Then there was the time after I got married in 2018. I quit a bad job and found out I'd been blacklisted from getting work in that particular city so I gave my wife 3 months to quit working at her college friend's private school so we could move to another city where I'd be able to make some real money. During that time I just binge watched movies and all the old favorites (Sopranos, Rome etc.)

It's been almost four years but I'm due for another neet session. I'm going to be immigrating to another country soon and it could take up to 6 months after we get there for our temporary residence to get approved and I'll be able to work again. Can't say I'm not looking forward to it.
