How to join:

Have 1200 dollars saved up for yearly dues or pay $99 give or take a month.

-Don't join a gym that's toxic, that shit will rot your life
-Fighters are simple: they're either assholes or they're kind, so pick the latter since you're probably not tough

Private trainers cost too much. Don't join gyms like Money Mayweather's which are like big retailers. Make sure you can meet the pro fighter. For example, don't join Bas Rutten's gym in Westwood, join in Westlake Village. Don't settle for the gym run by employees.

If the gym has a 4.9 or 5.0 rating on Yelp/Google Reviews, probably good enough, depending on the area.

Sometimes gyms, like Hayastan, advertise pro fighters like Ronda Rousey but have nothing to do with it. Don't join gyms where members troll and toll new members.

Do join gyms with small classes and great communities, even if they're disguised as Beverly Hills Adult Courses or in the back of a strip mall.

Pros: Defend yourself capabilities, lean limbs, chad friends
Cons: Daily commitment & grind, enforcers and big dogs

I went to UFC legend matt brown's gym but only one of his old training partners and a fighter from one was there, it was still lit tho

beware of long time risks and don't spar like there's no tomorrow
learn about cte
always tuck your chin
don't wear headgear if possible
most people in any gym are nice, there occasionally maybe a prick or two

your progress also depends alot on what you do outside the gym

yeah bc jiu jitsu is mainly about submissions (chokes, joint locks, ect.). Usually judo ppl are better at tachi waza so they probably thought u had an advantage + they usually wanna see where ur at on the first class
