bonus: journals of my 5th? great grandfather. you wouldn't believe how well even an ordinary businessman could write back then. mf had prose like an antiquated comsky, i was very humbled.
context: my mom homeschooled me in middle school, she was a very overzealous theatre arts teacher so my education was mostly through literature and oral exams. I chose this time frame because since returning to public school in 9th grade my education has been non existent. now I almost never read because of my attention span and adult problems / distractions. but I recently finished the stranger & the death of Ivan ilych, currently working on Ward No. 6.
