This is pretty long if you want shorter version scroll down to “tldr”
many people in the community says “you can’t be happy unless your a Chad “ or anything that means
Being attractive = happiness
Which is wrong
Firstly happiness is mostly genetic just like looks , as there 4 studies that show that .
As they showed that about 50% of long term happiness (baseline mood) is genetic that because some people are just wired with higher baseline serotonin and dopamine sensitivity or stress resilience .
Study conclusion :
One of the four studies :
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
And the other 50% is mostly your lifestyle, environment and way of thinking
But why better looks doesn’t equal more happiness even that they seem related ?
The answer is Hedonic adaptation .
Hedonic adaptation is a way for your brain to adapt to changes both positive or negative , as studies shows that after people cross a certain income threshold (enough to cover needs + comfort), the extra happiness boost is small and fades as you adapt. Same with improving your looks as you get confident and better treatment your brain will just normalize it and it becomes your baseline
So if you don’t get a really good treatment as a Chad you will be unhappy, because good treatment is your baseline
Hedonic adaptation work really simple as it goes
Neurochemistry: dopamine spikes from novelty, but repeated exposure kills the spike
Comparison: you start comparing yourself to the new standard
Expectations rise: what once felt like a luxury becomes an normal thing
There like 50+ studies about hedonic adaptation and here one :
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
TLDR : Good looks = better treatment from people = constant dopamine hits (water)
The real long-term benefit of looks isn’t endless dopamine; it’s the easier life conditions .
Your brain will normalize this easier life conditions and it becomes your
happiness baseline .
So if you aren’t happy right now you most likely won’t be if you ascend .
Much love to all my mentalcels

Heritability of life satisfaction in adults: a twin-family study - PubMed
Individual differences in life satisfaction are determined in part by genetic factors that are largely or entirely non-additive in nature.

The challenge of staying happier: testing the Hedonic Adaptation Prevention model - PubMed
The happiness that comes from a particular success or change in fortune abates with time. The Hedonic Adaptation Prevention (HAP) model specifies two routes by which the well-being gains derived from a positive life change are eroded--the first involving bottom-up processes (i.e., declining...
