Well i was told that i was nominated for reasons like advice and people liking me enough to vote.
I might not deserve it in our eyes but others thought about it enough to think that.

im pretty sure we both agreed on this in a thread

there shouldn't be a set criteria for motm, you should be able to win it in any way which seems to be how they've been doing it

the only problem is that winning through shitposting, which unironically keeps the traffic going on here, is probably impossible

You don't need to shitpost to win best example is @aguachento I have never seen him in off topic, mods and the other motms need to see that you bring some type of benefit to the community, which one is individual for everyone there is not a set rule why you can like someone

yeah i think you should be able to do the opposite tbh

think about some of the prime rotters back in the day who would only be on off-topic posting funny threads

they aren't as educational but entertainment wise they're very valuable, and entertainment is why a lot of users use .com

not saying shitposting should automatically win you motm, but if you're good at it you should be in the running

It really depends on why you like someone, but I would guess most mods choose people from the off topic they like or if someone really brings some new value to the forum

And I agree with you, that's why I switched to com too from org

i think .com already does this. @The cat from The Matrix winning motm is a good example. @tuberculosisinmybal described it perfectly, as its really about if you bring value to the community. the criteria for said value can be diverse.
