I'm not saying it's impossible obviously, idk much about Gandy but there's definitely a chance he's not faking anything. My first sentence was more general rather than being specific to him

By telling people the opposite of what they expect, it makes him sound more humble and therefore a better person. In general, defying social expectations makes you stand out more.

Yet I'm finding new hobbies like I'm thinking of learning to play a guitar, maybe join an activity club once I enter uni. YOU got to make the effort in finding stuff to do that you like. And if you don't like to do anything then that's a whole different problem.
