The symbol of dedication and sacrifice for love doesn’t pay: it leaves you alone with the usual polite lines from the usual village woman, calling you ‘the best’, ‘unforgettable’, while in reality you only served to keep the seat warm for the next one.
But the anger, the fantasies, those ideas, the murderous fury; they make your bones tremble and set your brain on fire. Because I can’t carve my own skin nor their throats. And so someone, somewhere, must tremble.
