hi! my name is snapple. my background consists of: watermelon, and lemonade
I enjoy Roblox, but like the thing is is that i'm a neet and have a gap year, I can learn pretty easily and shit but like so many devs around me are just massive nerds tbh, maybe 1k a month? A week?

Or should I get a real job, serious replies only

okay but this shit looks fun to make

Roblox Gamedev is not easy money to make, at least not anymore, it's competitive now and a lot of corporations develop games on there now. You should do it for fun, in the same way you shouldn't start YouTube at first with the hopes of making money.

nahh u good def maoney from it if ur good a coding and have good ideas

Lua isn't fairly hard but making people play your game and spend money on it is

lua, the programming language roblox uses, doesn't always translate across engines. some engines do support it, but you should learn it under the assumption that more complicated languages in more popular game engines will be what's mostly documented and NOT lua. lua is easy to understand, hence why roblox uses it.

if you can:
- 3d model from scratch
- ui design or do all the digital art from scratch
- code entire games by yourself
etc & NOT need to outsource or freelance ANY of it, sure. it may be worth creating a game on roblox. as a passion project. because once you make it, yknow what you gotta do? run ads thru roblox. alr, well a lot of ppl be usin ad blockers. what do u do now? advertise it by other means. you gotta essentially be a social media marketer and run your own community.
constantly need to update the game as well assuming it somehow magically gets mega popular without lifting a finger.
the conversion of robux to actual cash is not like you think it is either. almost all game devs get a majority of their income from selling micro-transactions or pay to win features. almost all of them are teams who run like a small company, assuming you wanted to stay an indie dev w/ no company oversight. which is a whole other can of worms i'll spare you from. why would somebody choose to spend hundreds on your game vs another popular game they already own skins or w/e else on? these other games are backed by tons of businesses who invest into these developers. but it's already oversaturated and low demand for noobies.
if you're starting out, assume by default it's gonna take you at least 5ish years assuming you lock tf in before you get to a good enough skill level that's capable to learn 3 vastly different skills to have a game that runs decently enough. roblox's landscape n player needs/wants changes every 6ish months or so, so if you don't immediately adjust to these new trends you're actually just sinking money into something for the love of spending money frfr.

this is why roblox is controversial legally right now. it promises you that anyone can make a game and get paid for it. even lil kids. they make it genuinely impossible though and they do that for a reason. roblox does NOT want to pay you. you NEED to take advantage of lil dweebs to even be CONSIDERED for a cashout by roblox. you would get more ez money for black market trading of limited items. genuinely.

tl;dr -- learning new skills is epic, i recommend doing it. i don't recommend doing something like roblox specifically, it's actually soul crushing and can kill the motivation you have to learn new skills
