What’s up fellow Gymmaxxers. I recently got into the gym and have quit enjoyed the bench press and noticed that I tend to hit pbs quicker when I just go in without doing a lighter set I only warm up through a stretch and a pulse raiser e.g jogging. Does anyone have an opinion on this is this harmfull? and is it optimal?

No, at least for me.

Yes 100%, my homeboy injured himself hopping straight into a pr 30 mins outta bed.
Just do a light set, restiance bands, pec fly. whatever. get the blood flowing but nothing to failure.

So a light set my pb rn is 85kg should I do a 70ks warm up for example

idk hard to guess, like 55 maybe. But i find pec fly is usually better, it doesn't matter to much as long as you dont go to failure your next set wont be effected negatively. Even then u can eat lollies and take a long rest. just get the blood pumping man

Yes exactly light at first to warm up. It's pretty simple. If ur a psycho you can go hard set and decrease each time but not worth risk of injury

Guess I was a psycho then.
Just not worth the risk. High risk low reward. Before anything warm up cardio 5 mins to get blood flowing through your muscles then start off light weights. Imo, maybe it works for u but I have reoxuring shoulder injury to this day cause of that

First set always should be half weight and high reps to prepare tendons and muscles to max effort, and pushing blood into the area. You can do 30 reps if you want

Can I do like 60 idk why 42.5 would just seem futile to me (just asking)

If u go mike mentzer method where you go slow even the lightest of weights won't be futile. Ull burn ur easily.

Nah better do 40-45 and do more reps to warm-up, especially if you have a shoulder injury from jubo.
I hope you do your face-pulls before hand
