I've been thinking about this for a while I'm going to be applying for college soon and I want a degree that could put me in a comfortable living position so I was thinking maybe chemical engineering was the move does anyone have any experience with this?

just know that once you branch off its going to be VERY chemistry oriented
like mech + civil would have some math courses that intertwine with one another, which is not the case for chem, at my uni at least
if you're really interested in it, good at chem and willing to work hard then go for it
