The verse you quoted explains excessive love for yourself. Improving your looks is not excessive in a way that it hurts the word of God nor anyone else.

Although you quoted the wrong verse, i get your meaning. A better verse for you would be Matthew 6:25-34, which speaks about validation from others. It says that you should care more for Gods judgment on you rather than other human beings judgement. God does not care what you look like. But the reason why looksmaxxing is still not against the Bible is because this verse only says to put God first. You can care for your outward appearance all you like, but God must come first. As long as you care more about how you act than how you look, you are allowed to care for how you look.

He is choosing to not be a christian by not being the Biblical definition of a Christian; someone who has heard the good news of salvation through Christ, who believes that Jesus is the Son of God, who repents of his sins, who confesses his faith in Christ, and who has been baptized into the body of Christ.
