So many downsides with 0 benefits.

It makes the ability to hide activity obsolete because you can tell if someone is online by seeing if their time goes up.

It gives you an accurate measurement as to how much of an loser one is, which is visible to everybody at all times and encourages you to log off (i'm assuming thats the point but i don't know why you'd want to discourage people from staying on your site)
