In that definition, water itself isn’t wet—it’s the thing causing wetness.
If you define wet as “covered in liquid,” then sure, you can say water is wet. But that’s just a different definition, not proof the other view is stupid.

So a shirt can be wet or dry depending on water, but water itself isn’t being described by those terms in the same way.
