Although I will voice one minor disagreement - knowing the truth won’t protect you from harm. It is at best a mild, temporary salve (like all good copes [which is ultimately everything humans do, as you mentioned]), one which enables you to articulate the why behind your suffering, and thereby acts as a psychological pressure relief valve
