more rice nice life
Here are mine based on my limited experience on this planet:
- There is no god or an afterlife. Evolution is the reason that we exist today.
- A small government is the best government. Capitalism is the system that has lifted the most people out of deprivation and poverty. Socialism or a command economy will never work because a central planner could never allocate resources as efficiently as the prices set by the market via supply and demand.
- Wisdom is exponentially valuable. The knowledge that persists over time keeps society stable and does not go into a maniac state. We should not seek to sacrifice this wisdom in the name of egalitarianism or equality, as it ends up making the "oppressed" even worse off. Things like delaying gratification, starting a family, and not partaking in pornography or drugs are inherently good values, and these values should not be discarded.
- Most of your life isn't within your control, as genetics or external factors determine most of it. Even things like extraversion, neuroticism, and conscientiousness (ability to work hard) have some genetic basis. The better your genetics or situation, the more free you will be. As you age, the more sentience and free will you have, but there are fewer changing things like your physique or your personality because those things are more set in stone as you age through things like puberty.
- Hierarchies will always seek to exist because humans desire the highest quality of life possible. Building a society or even a community with a high quality of life requires competent leadership, whether decentralized or centralized powers, which selects competence and, thus, hierarchy and competition among humans. Hierarchies exist also because of a biological desire to continue the human species.
- Morality is quite ambiguous. Yes, murder, r**e, and extortion are wrong based on logic and reasoning from Enlightenment principles that it infringes upon one's inalienable right. Human reasoning is how we can come to objective truths about the world. Still, otherwise, for most things, it's hard to determine if it is good or bad. For example, some of you might say it's "evil" for women to reject short guys. This is a pattern that exists throughout society and has no value judgment. The world is made up of atoms and matter. Therefore, most things are social constructs made by humans to maintain a better society (one belief I somewhat agree with leftists on), including morality, for the most part. The Earth will continue spinning around regardless of whatever acts of hypergamy or mistreatment will be committed, rendering morality somewhat ambiguous.
- It is humans' best nature to look after themselves at the end of the day. Sure, cooperation and trade can benefit both parties, but at the end of the day, most of the little free will you have in your life is based on controlling your own life. While you can get better insight into someone's feelings through the human ability to read social cues, you'll only get a superficial idea of what the other person is experiencing. You'll only have sentience over your sensations and feelings, as you can't magically go into other people's bodies, and you'll always be you as long as you have consciousness. The world is a pretty lonely place. Therefore, for those reasons, it is in people's best interest to be selfish and look after themselves first and foremost.
As for more on the political side of things, I am right-wing on most issues, but I'm not too right-wing or traditionalist to the point that I want to revert to a time when women, minorities, and other groups did not have basic fundamental rights. For example, I think innate differences between males and females should be acknowledged. Gender roles should generally be maintained throughout society for more stability; I don't believe in extreme "traditional culture," such as women being forced to be in the kitchen and being deprived of the right to vote and hold specific jobs.
