i have curly hair but im awful at this shit i just need stuff to put in it that arent 1 grillion chemicals in a plastic bottle, i currently just use shampoo and conditioner and sometimes leave in and i scrunch it and it looks fine, any tips? im also broke as hell so id rather have homemade stuff or something similar that wont make my hair smell or anything

i dont really want it to look wet or metallic and heavily defined i see ppl do finger curls like that and it looks fucking awful to be honest i just wanna hydrate it a little bit so it doesn't look like a dry brushed afro

curl type: 2c/3a

Bro I got you i am super good with hair and especially curls, can u post a pic of your curls though?

Hey girl, i have the same type of hair as you and its lowk a struggle on here because not many people have curly hair on the forum from what ive seen so far.
- What ive been doing recently is, as soon as i get out of the shower i dry my hair with a old t-shirt or microfiber cloth (never a towel) and i comb it out with a wide tooth comb.
- After that, i go in with the "not your mothers" curl cream but theres probably curl creams way better than that + cheaper, and I finger coil, however since you dont like finger coiling, i would just scrunch and finger coil the parts of your hair that go out weirdly just to tame them.
- Then, I usually put gel, (not your mothers gel) in a praying hands motion + scrunching
- After, let it dry a bit and when its ever so slightly wet, go in with a hair oil of your choice, (i use trader joes jojoba oil or ogx argan oil) again, theres probably cheaper ones, but yes i go in and scrunch not much, but definitely a good amount of it.
- And lastly, I'm still trying to perfect it, but yeah sleeping with it is very tedious. I always have to end up redoing most of my hair in the morning, but what helped is to do a pineapple bun with a SILK scrunchie + a bonnet. Its been holding my curls the best so far.
I obviously dont do this routine very often because of how my hair wont stay when i sleep. i usually do ur routine + hair oil.
But yeah. Probably not the best but as someone who has randomly started growing curly hair 2 years ago, its helped me throughout my hair journey. Goodluck!

Oh and, if your looking for homemade stuff, definitely research indian + japanese recipies.

if you have a blow dryer buy a plastic piece diffuser and attach it to your blow dryer so that it dries quickly and u dont ruin it with a towel, curl cream too, and use ur dad or brothers gel if needed but personally for me gel makes my hair ugly as hell so i use a mousse that works, i also see people using a flour / tea sifter and scrunching there hair in it then using the blowdryer underneath, a curl cream works wonders for me but it isnt needed just use your leave in conditioner instead, for mouse its great too but gel u can get from ur dad or brothers works too
