I have similar problems despite being complimented relatively often (i.e. when I’m exposed to friendly social contexts where compliments are less difficult to give).
Not friendly compliments, though

yep I think part of it was I wasn’t complemented / called ugly in my early teens (one of two black girls in a white school) so now I just don’t believe when someone called me attractive at all. It also sucks though because people think I’m fishing and start being even meaner which just gets confusing.

A matter of time, if positive feedback is recurrent and common then your self-esteem will improve

Tbh as a girl when u like a guy and he likes u back and the relationship goes well his appeal transcends all looksmax, like u cant even look at smn else the same. Idk how its like for guys tbh i heard theyre a lot more visual

i agree with this, it’s a lot about how the guy treats you and makes you feel and how much time you wanna spend with them, after a while the connection and compatibility makes them soooo much more attractive in a different way

its kinda scary btw

Same ngl I finally was honest to a therapist and she referred me to a neurologist + outpatient jfl its so over for us

Nah i used to think that but ngl i dont believe it anymore bc if a guy wanted a masc friend he'd just find another guy to hang w yk, maybe my perspective is too cooked to give a neutral answer to this tbh

it’s fine tbh its always going to be subjective when it comes to social interactions but i understand that most girls feel like you so it’s probably true
