Discussion where did the notion that short hair is more masculine than long hair?

I imagine men started having short hair once they had to start working intensively in j*bs that their hair could get them injured, so probably Industrial Eras. 1800s-1900s, times of militarization as well. Women were at home so they had ample opportunity to keep their hair long as hair wouldn't affect their capabilities in anything. Long hair on both genders are way better.
 
Yeah before the industrial era it was masculine to have long hair men and women had long hair u even still see that with the lawyers wig

Back then probably the only men who didn’t have long hair were deals workers due to j*bs but most men had long hair and a pony tail
