why can't most people understand data and stats?

no I don't think I'm some high IQ god, but holy fucking shit it seems like 99% of people just can't understand data and stats jfl from what I've seen people read stuff and their whole brain process is "bigger number = correct"

Isn’t that how data works f****t? What are u even trying to say if the number is bigger it means according to that data and whatever specific thing it’s showing that thing has a higher odd amount

usually people use it to prove points when there's nuance to it, it's like the whole 13/50 thing, people say white people do more crime not realizing it's not the same per Capita, but they just see a bigger

A lot of people struggle with data and stats because it can feel abstract or full of jargon. Numbers also need context to make sense, and without that they just look confusing.

On top of that, many people aren’t taught how to interpret statistics properly, so they either misread them or avoid them altogether.
