i get a notif, i think my messages are being answered, so i reply to the message (after reading the response only) but it wasn't for me?? what the fuck???? it makes me look like a r****d every time

Unwatch that thread by clicking “Unwatch” at the top of it. Or, to stop automatically watching threads you interact with, go to your settings and disable the option that auto-watches every thread you reply to or react to.

I think I like it because the threads on here are less 'you post once then bounce', normally a dialogue happens and you wanna be notified when the conversation is interesting. I obviously unwatch threads after a while if I'm not actively posting in them anymore, but y'know. I think the activity level of the site also plays a big factor into it.

when i first joined i was receiving an email for everyone that replied in any thread of the entire forum i had to put my cellphone on airplane mode

To be fair, I have no idea why that's enabled. It's such an unnecessary menace to the servers. I assume Dean pays a small amount for every email that is sent out, but I'm not sure.
