average national iq is based on occupations and not actual iq tests. According to these stats most of africa is around 60-70 average iq. Meaning that a good part of the population would be under 60. At an iq of 60 you would be having trouble taking care of yourself. Its not very likely that such a large chunk of people would have the minds of 3 year olds.

My Dad is a self made millionaire, grew up in poverty.

Merit takes you really far. It's also really easy to make friends if you go to any higher income area in general. You don't need connections for this, just money.
