it genuinely pisses me off, like its so weird, name it like appel it appol , sounds more presenetable, it genuinely ruined my afternoon and now night.
@genio @roper.
many english words are pronounced very differently from the way theyre written

Convention of English language
Topple
Supple
Kettle
Paddle
Ripple

The two Ps (or any consonant) makes the vowel before it pronounced short, like ah instead of ay

Eg ladle is said l(ay)dle
Whereas imaginary would laddle you would automatically assume to be said as L(ah)ddle, even though you’ve never seen it before

The -le is just a common suffix same thing

It’s because of phonetics. The vowel is dictated by your tongue placement and airflow.
