One of the effects of mixed sex universities, mixed sex workplaces, and a mixed sex Internet is that men are around women EVERYWHERE now who are neither their relatives nor their paramours.

These women -- strangers and acquaintances -- behave in typical woman ways, using indicators of approval or disapproval to shape men's behavior.

To disapprove, women may:

  • Look up or away from a man
  • Shake their heads at him
  • Roll their eyes
  • Sneer at him
  • Complain about him
  • Lecture him on something
  • Report him for something
  • Ask others to intimidate him
  • Ask others to kick him out
You might be a very strong, confident man, but if you are around this type of behavior from women enough it will affect you. All these signals communicate disapproval, and serve as punishment.

Likewise, to approve, women may:

  • Smile and maintain eye contact
  • Turn more of their bodies to a man
  • Flirt with him
  • Compliment him
  • Behave intrigued by what he says
  • Include him in things they're doing
Again, you might be a highly centered individual, but this stuff too will affect you. It is going to make you feel good, rewarded, like what you are doing is right and you should do more of it.

Women who aren't your relatives or your lovers will necessarily encourage behaviors that benefit them, regardless of the benefit or harm to you, even as they discourage behaviors of yours that fail to benefit them.

It is part of the taming process -- it is how women tame the men around them to be more useful for what those women want.

The more time you spend around women who aren't your relatives or lovers, the more 'taming pressure' (via female approval or disapproval) you will generally be exposed to -- and yield to.
She will approve or disapprove of the way her man does things or says them. Some girls are unsubtle (eye rolls, sighs, exasperated cries of irritated judgment to disapprove; excitement, exuberance, and giant compliments to approve) while others are subtle (quiet signs of disappointment, acting sad, silent treatment to disapprove; sweet smiles, tender touches, and gentle compliments to approve).

Men also care about the approval or disapproval of higher ranking men.

But men today don't exist in communities of men. They aren't in militaries, they aren't working closely with charismatic mentors or leaders; instead they are isolated, disconnected, on their own, yet surrounded by women who wield approval or disapproval at them continually, as women are wont to do when exposed to men.

When men seek the approval of higher ranking men around them, you have strong, manly societies.

When instead of being around higher ranking men, men find themselves around strange women, men instead turn to seeking the approval of those women, and you end up with weak-kneed, sensitive societies (and menfolk).

When there is an absence of male-focused structure in men's lives, and men are surrounded by non-relative, non-lover women, men naturally end up getting much of the approval and disapproval they receive from women -- and modifying their behavior accordingly.

Her continual approvals and disapprovals affect him.

Not all at once.

But over time, they shape his behavior.

  • He may begin to walk on eggshells in certain situations, fearing a reprisal if she catches him doing something she dislikes
  • Or he may conceal things from her, fearing she'll burst into dramatic tears should she find out
  • He may alter his behaviors, knowing she views certain things (perhaps cheering at sports; perhaps playing video games) as immature or low level, so now he doesn't do those things as much
Not every man can be whittled like this, and the degree to which men can be whittled, and how aggressively the woman whittles, varies tremendously with the individuals.

It all happens over time, and as it does, it alters the dynamic of the relationship.

It puts the woman in charge... and causes the man to become well and truly tamed.

et if her objectives are in opposition to his (as will often be the case among strangers or acquaintances), her approval and disapproval will serve to push him in directions that may be counterproductive for him.
A woman can nag, whine, and complain to a broken man, and he will just take it:

Rather, he hopes that by serving her so completely, so dutifully, she will be grateful, or she will discover she cannot live without him, and so, because she depends on him so much, she cannot leave.

This man is broken. He is the horse who, if the gate was open and the free range beckoned, and his master stood in the stall kicking, whipping, and beating him, he would stand there and take it, never fleeing for freedom.

Or like a broken, captive orca with its sagging dorsal fin.
He is owned by the woman, like a piece of property, and even if she is at heart a nice person she cannot help treating him that way.

People treat you however you allow them to treat you.

It’s simply human nature.

Act like a piece of property, and you’ll get treated like a piece of property.

Resisting Taming in Pickups

Women will attempt to tame you during pickup attempts (as well as flirtations, general potentially romantic conversations, and so on).

These taming attempts are known colloquially as tests.

The way a man responds to tests reveal his degree of tamability:

  • If he yields to the test, he shows he comes pre-tamed or is easy to tame
  • If he responds a bit awkward but not a pushover, he shows he’s about average
  • If he handles her test in a smooth, flirtatious, and/or adroit way, he shows resistance to taming
  • If he just ignores her test or gets angry/annoyed she tested him, he shows complete wildness
