Shredded the universe is made up of atoms and different fundamental particles: Hadrons and Leptons
Hadrons make up what's inside the proton and neutron are split into two groups, ones that include 3 quarks called Baryons and the other group containing 2 quarks: its quark and its antiparticle variant- Mesons. There are 2 types of mesons, ones including a particle and antiparticle pair: pions and the other containing at least one strange quark- kaons. Baryons make up what's inside of protons and neutrons. There are 3 different flavours of quarks, the up,down and strange quark. The up quark has has a charge of +2/3, and both the down and strange quark have a charge of -1/3. Its antiparticle variant will have the negated charges of these values. In baryons you can't have antiparticle and particle mixes. The quark structure inside a proton for example would be UUD (2/3+2/3-1/3=1) since a proton has a charge of 1. The charge of a neutron is 0 so it's quark structure would be UDD (2/3-1/3-1/3=0). As for leptons, they make up electrons, the muon and the neutrino. These dont have quarks and have a lepton number of 1. When a neutron turns into a proton, it releases an electron and electron antineutrino. The reason for is is because baryon, lepton, and charge number are always conserved. Strangeness may not conserved during particle interactions involving the weak interaction force which is a fundamental force alongside the EM force, strong force and gravitational force.
