Do you think going into a more generalist degree like computer science and minoring in the arts / graphic design / interactive media would be better?

I feel like that would be better since it provides a back up in case game design doesn't work out since it is highly saturated.

But then again, I haven't researched the field so you probably know more than me.

Why would I want a graphic design degree?? Game design is the mechanics its very similar to game development but more hands on

@apatheia honest question do you think game design is game art? Game art is what would need a graphic design degree or something similar but game design is basically game development

white people and first worlders are so useless, y'all will do a meme degree for 100k and then when you can't find a job and realize it's useless you'll rant about how the education system is a scam and shit skins are taking all the jobs

a game design degree wouldn't be a valuable degree, for one your job options will be extremely limited, to game designing and maybe graphic designing jobs, which is an extremely small and competitive job market and many job positions in it don't require a degree, so you'd be wasting time and money

your better off doing a broader coding degree, you still will get credentials in the field you want plus your degree will actually have good job market value in general in other fields

I also was interested in game design which is why i'm telling you this, I watched a video for a guy who did it and he said when a company is looking at your resume they want to see what projects you've worked on already, think about it like this, that 97k your spending on a degree that might not even guarantee a job you could use it to work on your own projects

I think hes tryna say that since ur so good w programming that u shouldn't limit yourself to game design

I hate when you explain something to a n***a in full detail and they disregard everything else to focus on one minor point, I was just saying that the degree would be limited in terms of what jobs she could get and that might be one of the few others

A game design degree will also allow me to fo game development so im not way too worried
💔 that doesn't change my point, that's just another very small niche and competitive job market

@GewaltWaffe get in here, I need reassurance from a white person that I'm right

When ppl say stuff about art it just confuses me cuz game design is more about the gameplay concepts, progression and mechanics
