are hitting abs cope? when ive been lean/skinny in the past/growing up, i just didnt really have abs. my brothers also dont really have defined abs ( their skinny )

im currently not skinny ( cutting ) and im wondering if i should hit abs while im cutting so when im lean i have semi-decent abs. will this do anything though? arent abs "made in the kitchen" implying you cant really train them to make them visible?

You should train your abs when bulking so they grow. In a cut ur not going to grow abs. Doing stupid ab workouts wont help, focus on progressive overload like with every muscle. For aesthetics, dont hit obliques and focus especially on the lower abs.
Abs are made in the kitchen means you need to be lean enough so they get visible but you still need to grow them so you have something to make in the kitchen. You can train abs directly but most grow them from compound exercises.

what compound exercises grow abs?
 
most legs exercise requires u to brace ur core tight. so it is trained during the leg days but u wnt to isolate it to get it bigger. just train em til u feel enuf. so the end game should be 1x/week or 1x/2week
 
why dont abs grow during cutting?
you can still gain abs when cutting, and I think that's a good solution. Most people hate ab workouts, so if you stuck with it, it will do wonders for you. And differentiate you from many people

i dont make ab workouts but guy above said cutting wont help them grow ? which I don't think is true but idk
