I have a few acne scars on cheeks / side of face. I believe in photos especially selfies it’s a decent falo on me, but in person I have found that it just looks like very minimal texturing
At school I rarely see guys with acne scars which makes me even more insecure about my own, however, lens distortion really makes them worse, when people take photos of me I cannot even tell I have the scars, it’s really only noticeable with selfie. The back camera / normal photography camera people use for photos also still makes your scars worse, just not as bad as selfie. I think acne scars are not even that bad genuinely some people really get messed up by them but most people have mild scarring anyways which doesn’t even take away a quarter of a psl point
However although I think acne scars arent even that bad for men, i think women get screwed by them much worse, and im talking much much worse, like maybe 5 times worse
Irl can somewhat tell if foids have acne scars especially if their makeup is more matte than glossy, since it outlines the texture of the skin. If the makeup has a glossy look or something like a balance of glossy/matte then they actually become less visible, since more light shines off the makeup and kinda fills in the scars more showing less texture
Most women (even tho they are more prone to acne) have better skin than men (until we get older because the masculine bone structure of males reduces the sagging skin/fat pads and collagen, whereas women don’t have the same bone structure that supports this so they age worse) so seeing a girl at a young age have textured skin is something you are way less used to, almost all women do some type of skincare whereas it’s probably a quarter of men who do. Acne in general is also arguably worse looking on women than men, because us guys can get away with it because we (usually) have a more masculine face which is more forgiving to acne, and can sometimes in rare instances be a halo, where as with women I am still yet to see an acne halo where the girl would not be more appealing with clear skin than acne
I would like to hear what other people say about this, maybe they still find acne scars very bad looking in person but if there’s honestly anything to take away from this is if ur a woman with acne scars don’t use matte makeup
