Hey, i wanna try topical minoxidil out for my eyebrows and lashes, but ive heard that you shouldn’t apply it on ur lashes cus it can cause severe damage to the eyes and its too risky.😭
Should I leave minoxidil out for lashes and just go with caster oil and eyelashes serum?

If youre applying it to your eyebrows, it will affect your eyelashes aswell without you needing to directly apply on your eyelashes.

And no, do not use minoxidil on your eyelashes, always let the minoxidil on your eyebrows dry before sleep, and use vaseline as a barrier between your eyes and eyebrows so it doesnt run down to your eyes.

The ordinary lash serum will suffice and you can use castor oil too but doesnt do much imo.

Alright, thank you. Should I get liquid or foam minox? And do i need to do microneedling?

Son it dosen’t work like that tbh,how would it effect your eyelashes unless it’s oral?

As a person who uses topical minoxidil on my eyelashes,no you won’t go blind, just squirt a bit on your finger and use your finger to apply it as close you can to the root of your eyelashes. Mix in melkfett or a petroleum jelly to make sure it’s not just pure liquid. I myself have gotten minoxidil in my eyes a few times, and unless you don’t wash it off asap, nothing will happen.

Use liquid, also microneedling on your eyelashes is stupid. And microneedling is generally just optional.

It’s not gonna do anything that bad from getting in your eyes as long as you wash it and it’s not all the time

ie getting minox in your eyes a few times isn’t gonna do anything damage

Because a small amount of topical minoxidil is always absorbed into your bloodstream. The effect is not as great as it is for your eyebrows not because of the area you apply it to, but more because your eyelashes hair follicles lack the same quantity of the enzyme needed to activate the minoxidil. As I said, the ordinary lash serum and castor oil will suffice (do the most), whilst the minoxidil will add a very slight improvement also on the eyelashes.

Study or general proof that the eyelashes lack SULT1A1?

Both choices are equally as effective so which one you chose depends on your personal preferences. I would still say foam as it dries quicker, doesnt contain propylene which can irritate your skin, and wont drip down to your eyes easily.

Minoxidil isnt going to hurt your eyesight or “make you go blind” if it gets in your eyes, but it can indirectly cause your eyes to look slightly worse in several ways as for example widening blood vessels and thinning skin. These are only temporary and after repeated long-term contact with eyes, but better to avoid imo.
