I agree with this also. People don’t seem to care about their health much. As for the other point, im looking at it from the US perspective. On average, a restaurant pays their waitresses $2 an hour. If the table stiffs them it’s not gonna be a good day. It is expensive to eat out and absolutely unfair to place an additional charge on the customer just so the server can make a living. It’s a flawed system and it shouldn’t be this way.

Again. Their wages solely come from tips. Restaurants pay so little that it’s absurd. If they don’t make money from that, they don’t pay their bills champ. California restaurant employees are paid the full state or local minimum wage regardless of how much they make in tips. Employers cannot use tips to count toward minimum wage obligations (a practice known as a "tip credit")
Either way even with tip credit, that's still livable wage.

In the US, servers typically earn between $15 to $30+ per hour (roughly $31,000 to $60,000+ per year) once tips are factored in. BASE HOURLY WAGES ARE OFTEN LOW, but actual earnings rely heavily on the type of restaurant, shift, and location.
base wage = $ 2.13 for most states.
The rest of the number comes from TIPS. If it’s a slow day you’re not making bank
