Bodybuilding as an awesome activity that you should absolutely partake in. You'll find many gym buddies, and can do all the neck exercises you want with all the weight plates available. Maybe you'll even train other muscles, such as your back, chest, shoulder, traps, arms, legs, abs, spine, butt, hands, pubococcygeus, serratus and masseters.

Depending on your age, bodybuilding might not be limited to muscles, but can also be applied to your bones. I know of a few exercises that can stretch out your clavicles and enlarge your ribcage.

I'd rather starve myself than go to the gym

It does not take very long. at the beginning you will be blessed with very fast progress, "noob gains".
I don't even know when these noob gains are supposed to stop, because I've been training for about a year now and I still make progress every week.

And if you want to accelerate the gains ever more, maybe roids/peptides could be your friend. (creatine)
