When I go out to watch a movie with my friends I know they will never understand the movie as deeply as I do, nor will they be able to discuss it in the same depth that I am able to.
Same thing with books and music, no one else gets anything to such great understanding the same way I do.

why would it not matter to me that my friends can only have surface level discussions on things that aren't their own personal experiences

because many times/10 you wouldn’t be bothered by it imo, you have better things to think and worry about then ramble on your view points on the movie you’ve watched.

You may have misread me as claiming I am the most intelligent person in the world. I care about talking to my friends like anyone who cares about their friends would.
