Its slightly burnt exterior and soft interior.. A pinch of salt and butter are all it needs. This is the best way to enjoy a potato anyone who claims otherwise is debatable

It's a matter of taste, of course, but the aroma of smoky charcoal is more dominant than even the best sauce. I'll try it someday

I prefer mashed potatoes, french fries, hachis parmentier, gratin dauphinois etc

The only time i eaten potatoes like you OP it was in the middle of french mountains, potatoes wrapped in tin foil. Since then i rather bring mashed potatoes powder, more practical 🐧

Powdered puree might be convenient, but unfortunately, no packaged food can replicate that smoky aroma and natural taste
