And if you believe in God, isn't compassion one of the first things you're taught? Why would you expect blessings and a good life while looking at other people's suffering and saying it doesn't matter? Empathy is kind of the foundation of most faiths.

I honestly can't imagine a greater tragedy than losing your loved ones, your home, your safety, and your entire future in something you had no control over. The fact that someone had happy moments before doesn't make that suffering any less real.
