Pure materialism like Stoicism sometimes explains the world in a very mechanical way. Aristotelianism on the other hand, is deeper because it doesn't just see something as atoms or matter it assigns a purpose (telos) to it. Recognizing that a seed is not just a mass of matter but an essence with the 'potential to become an oak tree' makes the world more meaningful.
materialism is just self-refuting because materialism is also an idea in the first place

I really like Aristotles ideas about friendship. He says that true friendship is virtuous friendship where people encourage each other to become better people not just for self interest or amusement. Do you think it's still possible to form such a friendship today?

Aristotle says "Friendship is the division of one soul into two bodies" Do you think modern people are so possessive of their souls that they can't share them with another, or do they simply not believe they have a soul big enough to share?

no they were abstract but with material/substrate in them which makes them concrete, but material exists only as potence so it's not the true existence
so this is something indefinite, as i said it exists only as potence which can become actuality
