Copes Ranked, and Discussion

✌️

The vast majority of guides on this forum are centered around what TO DO, but this thread will mainly be discussing coping mechanisms (and general activities) that are viewed as harmful, and open up for discussion.

(aka I was too lazy to make a guide, so I made a discussion in instead)

There's likely a lot of stuff I missed, so feel free to share your opinion on them in this thread

1a. Helpful Copes

Religion:
Many of you may disagree with this take, but I believe religion can be very helpful for some, regardless of whether or not it is true.

It satisfies the two things humans constantly search for, namely the need for meaning, and belonging. (Hence why churches often have youth groups, and preach of salvation after death constantly)

It is not for everyone of course, but it is helpful depending on the person.

Gymcelling:

Gymcelling will have a relatively minor effect on your SMV, but it functions as a good coping mechanism to deal with a lack of dopamine from the outside world. (As physical exercise releases large amounts of endorphins, painkillers, and dopamine)

Once again, this won't apply to everyone.

Blackpill: When I say this, I am not implying that the blackpill itself is untrue. Rather, I am referring to the sub culture of “lookism” and other communities that consider themselves “Blackpilled”.

Functionally, the Blackpill operates in similar ways to religion, politics, and some other popular copes.

However, rather than giving a
MEANING for suffering, it provides only an EXPLANATION (namely, your sub5 face)

This mindset can cause one to drift into severe nihilism and depression, as we've seen with many community members.

But on the other hand, it can give someone peace of mind, knowing that their suffering isn't to any fault of their own.

I believe the BP is a blessing, but only if you allow it to be.

2a. Situational Copes

Politics: This is also highly dependent on the individual, but I believe politics can still be helpful as a coping mechanism. They often provide a sense of brotherhood or solidarity for disenfranchised people, and can make people feel like they aren't alone in their struggles.

You will often see many politically active people with active hatred for certain groups, and this is no coincidence.

They are sometimes in these circles solely because they are frustrated with life, not because they actually have any integrity/values.

Videogames, And Media: This is an activity practically everyone indulges in, and can be helpful to reduce the blows dealt to you by the outside world. Once again, very situational.

Sports Fanatics: Although this will do nothing to improve your situation or long term mental health, it doesn't have any adverse effects on your life like drugs, bluepilled circles, or other harmful delusions.

3a. Unhelpful Copes

MGTOW/REDPILL: These manosphere spaces often tell young men lies about the way the world works, and often provide even more room for exploitation than bluepill circles.

I am putting this above bluepill, solely because if someone has made it to this stage, they are more likely to find the truth (AKA, the BP)

Masturbation: Although this activity functions as a method of short term relief, it has adverse effects on your ability to experience pleasure (dopamine) and your sexual behaviours.

If you are going to do this, don't watch porn.

4a. Harmful Copes

PUAS: This doesn't require much explanation. No “day game” or “brain flipping” for your sub 5 fugly face.

Bluepill:
The bluepill can be comforting, but ultimately it is a delusion that harms the user in the long term.

I shouldn't need to delve too deeply into this, this community should be aware of the adverse effects of being bluepilled

AI Girlfriends: The issues with this cope are very similar to masturbation. They provide awesome, and stimulating short term relief, but often cause you to drift further into escapism.

I've had constant conversations with motherfuckers who use ai chat bots, and I can tell you that this is a net negative for your psyche.

5a. Destructive Copes

Alcohol
, Smoking and Other Addictive Drugs: Water, this slowly kills you and makes you dependant on the substance in order to function

Self Harm: Water, but nonetheless it should be said. Self harm will do nothing to improve your situation.

i stopped reading after you mentioned smoking as a bad cope
pretty good thread tho, js use different coloring next time

is the ai still bad if i just use it to larp? not like larping having a girlfriend but like larping being a magic wizard

Nah that's more akin to writing fan fics, or storytelling

healthy cope
sweet, i have noticed a lot of the time the bot tries to introduce romance to the stories anyway but i usually just slime the love interest to stop that
