Alright i’m not gonna waste anyone’s time here with long-winded shite or whatever. we’re here because James Oathy, a long-time user, got banned over something that really fucking feels like a misunderstanding blown out of proportion. I’m asking you to read this with some real human context, not from some black-and-white mod rulebook.

Who THE FUCK is James Oathy?​


he’s a dude in his 30s, living in Asia with his wife and kids. full family man. solid guy. and like a lot of us here, he jumps on Forum in his free time to escape the grind and chill with others who get it okay. nothing weird. nothing shady. just a guy part of the culture, part of THIS community.

Cultural Context matters​


Where James is based, the social norms are hella different like completely fucking different. People there aren’t walking on eggshells about playful jokes and ragebait or how a comment might come across online. it’s looser. more laid-back. people don’t read into every line like it’s a court transcript. In fact, according to James himself, he said in China or where ever the fuck he is that you could just go out and beat your wife and not a soul would bat an eye at it. And that’s the headspace he was in. when he interacted with "BasedEgirl", it wasn’t some calculated creep move. it was just casual, jokey energy. A bit of light teasing. some edge maybe but not malicious, not sexual predator type of shit.

The accusation vs reality​


so "BasedEgirl" felt a certain way. fair enough. Everyone’s allowed to have boundaries or whatever. but calling James a perv? Like come on. that’s a big word. a fucking loaded one if you ask me. and if he was really some habitual creep, if he was that trust me when I say the internet would’ve exposed him long ago. he’s been online for years. Like his face is just plastered everywhere you look. Active. Public. Known. and nothing’s ever come up. no screenshots. no whispers of any pervy shit. no smoke = no fire.

James brought something to this place​


he wasn’t just a lurker. he had flavour. a certain presence. and the way he typed you know that fucking clean, almost academic style with a sarcastic twist. the jokes. the well-thought-out takes. he made the threads pop off in a way that’s just fucking missing now. his absence is loud, and a lot of us feel it. it’s like a key piece of the forum just disappeared.

What I'm asking​


Celestial, all I’m saying is take another look. not just at what was said, but at who said it, the context, the tone, the track record. was it a mistake? maybe. a misread moment? possibly. but a perma-ban feels extreme.


Bring James back I need that smooth suave way he typed you know what I mean? He's fucking weird as hell but in a good way and he was just quick with it like fuck man. WE ALL need some Oathy back in our lives NOW

i do think the main issue lies with at what point does it stop being an edgy joke and start becoming a problem when given several moments to change his stance and/or clarify his intentions and he just says "i don't care about her age, she's stupid and i'm gonna treat her as such, etc." if you can make a sound argument related to this question i do think he should be unbanned. but it "just being a joke" doesn't mean much when he pressed on and on about it

Ye well look, james was being a stubborn cunt, not a predator. he made some dumb jokes, didn’t back down, acted like a dickhead. fair. but jesus christ, he wasn’t being sexual, he wasn’t being creepy. he was just being his usual edgy bastard self. It's fair to say it looks pervy but this is a case of a funny old fuck just doubling down on shit he says on the internet because he knows it's not gonna have any real affect on him. it’s just him being an arse. if he was a real pedderist we’d have seen proof by now. but there’s fuck all. guy’s been online for years clean as fuck. Like he's all over youtube, like i'd say his got a bit of fame and you'd definitely see someone come out by now saying he did something to them irl if he was an actual pedo

to clarify, i don't believe him to be a predator or even a typical perv. even though he talked about having sex with minors irl "if he wanted to." i do think his behavior of disregarding of basic common sense to attack a 14 y/o kid is weird. i also think his desire to attack said kid outweighing people directly telling him how he's being perceived on a public forum makes it hard for me to think that he was totally unaware. if you are aware of your actions and proceed anyway, i think there's a case to be made that he should be banned. however, to say he contributed nothing would be a lie... but did he contribute enough for his behavior to be excused? debatable
 
sorry for the deep dive into something so trivial, but this entire plea reads like the dramatic defense of a dude who said weird shit online and now has a fan club treating him like hes nelson mandela. your “he’s been popular for years and never even had rumors” logic is hilarious like we haven’t watched that exact sentence age like milk with youtubers and streamers every week. that argument cancels out the rest of your case actually. most people here aren't dropping jokes that need “cultural context” to not sound predatory. you don’t get to say “he’s mature and responsible” and then spin around and go “oh well the place he lives is super chill with misogyny so lighten up.” which is it? youre trying to have it both ways. either he’s just an edgeposter and should own the consequences, or he’s a wholesome family man who should probably log off and go read his kids a book instead of being the main character on a rage bait site

And also, if your best defense of a guy being weird is “but his posts had a clean, academic style with a sarcastic twist, i promise you, the forum will survive. youre acting like they banned Shakespeare. i dont care for his "lore" but none of your points hold up if they arent thought out. more people mightve agreed with this if it were. but if i were the admin, this would make me want to keep him permabanned
